With four planets in Scorpio, it's more like “hello darkness, my old friend “🖤😂But who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks?? 😉
"Slow down" came to mind as I considered the ubiquitous pressure to race forward into the New Year. Let’s be clear, the tax man’s calendar shifted, that’s it. There is a plethora of writing about the history of this change if you want to go down an interweb rabbit hole, but don't believe the hype!
Any astrologer will happily remind you that the true start of the new year is when the Sun is at 0° Aries, the beginning of the Zodiac, which happens at the Spring Equinox in late March. This is when the Sun returns to full strength, heating up the Earth, waking it and making life stir above ground, inviting us to also be reborn and start again🌞
But This Year's a *little* Different
This year, before the Sun hits 0° Aries, two other planets will meet there for the first and only time in our lives: spiritual & nebulous Neptune and responsible & restrictive Saturn will have their "once every 36 years" party at this hot point🔥
The last time these two met was in 1989 (in Capricorn back then) so this is Astro we don’t see every day, let alone every year. And at the very beginning of the Zodiac, the OG alpha point? This is truly remarkable and hasn’t been seen in thousands of years😱
So don’t worry, you’ll get your huge reset very soon! But not yet.
We are still in the year of the wood snake, potent energy which invites us to shed and let go of what doesn’t serve. We are in the depths of Winter, a season which requires us to slow down, conserve energy and tend to our inner world, as the outer world goes through its annual slumber😴
Let’s not rush through this phase, but embrace the gift of this slower pace 🐢 I for one am enjoying a lighter social calendar, simpler food, gentle movement through yoga and hiking, and long evenings reading by the fire 🕯️
Winter is a time for reflection and getting clear on our intentions for when it is time to plant the garden of the year. I love this journal exercise from Dr Kristin Neff about core values.
A Note From Future You🙋🏻♀️
Imagine yourself in your elder years, reflecting on a life well-lived. Ask yourself:
I. What would have brought me the most joy and meaning?
2. Which values would I want to have guided my life (e.g., love, service, freedom)?
3. Then, consider: Are you living in alignment with them today?
2026 has some very, VERY exciting astrology in store for us💃We are wrapping up old cycles and preparing for new beginnings, so let's cross this threshold intentionally, together💞
Move forward with clarity, confidence, grounded awareness, and practical guidance to achieve your goals and desires. If you are ready to stop surviving and start thriving, I'd love to guide you back to the light within🕯️
Peace, Love and Light🕊️
Naomi
