When my daughter was small, any aberrations in her usually sunny and easy disposition could be explained by a few simple questions: Is she hungry? Is she tired? Is she uncomfortable (read: 💩-y diaper)
As it turns out, not much changes as we enter adulthood😉😂 Listening to a recent interview with happiness researcher, Dr. Michael Plant, he offers consideration of similar questions when we are feeling upset or dissatisfaction. Before you rush to the therapist, concluding a moment of Summertime Sadness is a deeper depression, stop and reflect: Have I eaten something? Have I left the house? Have I spoken to someone? And have I exercised?
Keep It Simple, Silly!😝
It seems to be human nature to complicate things, when the solution may be straightforward. I love this reminder to KISS 💋
Another incredibly effective way to gain perspective, is to focus on all that we are thankful for. I may have mentioned this in an earlier newsletter, but I’ll say it again, as it's worth repeating. Earlier this year, my good friend, Marianne, shared that she had an epiphany while looking out her kitchen window: The life she leads now is the life she dreamt of as a child. What an amazing and profound realization!🙏💞
Don't Forget Your Dreams💤
In our hustle culture, we are constantly readjusting the goal posts in life, creating an energy of nonstop striving towards an always elusive destination. The game is rigged! This energy breeds anxiety and dissatisfaction. We never pause long enough to notice how far we’ve come or to appreciate what is present in our lives.
And let’s be honest, sometimes we really don’t feel we have anything to celebrate. That’s fair. We don’t want to spiritually bypass and choose toxic positivity. That road leads nowhere. So if this is you, I see you. And I would invite you to consider the possibility of feeling gratitude for the most basic of things: the air you breathe, the water which quenches your thirst, the Earth, which sustains us all. KISS 💋
Make Your Communication Count🗣️👥
We have an abundance of planets in retrograde motion, and Mercury joins the fray THIS Friday. Retrograde energy is introspective, and coupled with the Sun currently travelling through the sensitive waters of Cancer, it invites contemplation.
Mercury retrograde is a time that demands us to be more careful with our communication, so what better time to participate in my workshop?!
In case you missed it, I’m hosting a virtual Communicate to Connect workshop on Zoom Tuesday, July 22 from 11:30am-1pm. I'd love for you to join us! And as a thank you for being part of my community, please use the discount code CONNECT at checkout on my website for your free ticket 🎟️
